My insurance company called me this morning to tell me that they finally approved my Tamiflu and thus I was able to get a refund for almost $65 for the cost of the med minus the $25 co-pay.
I am very thankful for the fact that the insurance got their act together sooner than later. I am also thankful that we are all well.
Well Again Well Again!
Jiggedy jig!
Yes, that is right all of us are well again and it is about time: it has only been a month since we were all well. I just hope that we all stay well these next few months of cold weather and that we do not go through this again for many more winters to come.
I usually love winter but this one I can truly say I am ready for it too end. There has been too much snow and ice for this part of the high plains. I hate El Nino years!

Ninety Dollars Later
I got my Tamiflu. There was no other way I was going to get the rest of my prescription unless I paid the full price for the medication. The insurance was the last thing holding everything up as the doctor's office finally got there part done on Tuesday but the insurance never approved the paying of the drug.
I guess the lesson I learned is never get sick in the first place and by all means never try and prevent an illness. The insurance hates those that do not want to get sick, for some reason. It is kind of like the fact that a preventative physical exam is balked at because you are not sick. Why go to the doctor if you feel "normal", anyway!
Don't you just love the way insurance companies think? I hate it!

The Medical Insurance Saga Continues!
OK, I am now waiting on the Insurance company to send a fax back to the doctor saying that they authorize the prescription of the Tamiflu to me, the patient. If it is not one thing it is another! I am just glad the doctor's office has done their share of the paperwork.
So for now the waiting game continues and I become more and more frustrated as time goes by, I am just lucky that the pharmacy has given me several days to get me through until this insurance snafu gets settled. If all else fails I will pay the almost nine dollars per pill (ten pills) just to get me over this flu and keep my youngest as healthy as she can be.
The health of my kids is the most important issue at hand!

My Turn Now!
Yup, that is right I now have the flu. I believe God is just blessing me with tons of patience in this last month with all the illnesses being spread in and around my family. I also have strep throat and tonsilitus to complicate matters more. The doctor gave me two shots and perscribed Azithromycan and Tamiflu. I unfortunately was unable to get my Tamiflu because it was Saturday and the doctor was already gone for the day when the pharmacy tried to contact him because the insurance company needs the doctor to call them to give authorization of the second script for Tamiflu in a month. I will have to wait now until Monday so that I can contact the doctor regarding the snafu... I have also called my friend/pharmacist to let her know of the situation so that she can also work on it when she gets into the office tomorrow.
Of course, none of this would have happened if the pharmacy would have called me before five when I called them because I would have used my own resources as a social worker to try to contact the doctor at the hospital before five-thirty as the pharmacy closes at six.
I am just glad I feel a tad better today because of the antibiotic and shots, today. I am just scared of passing this shit back to my youngest daughter as she is the most vulnerable. She has been coughing a tad but I had Daddy giver her an albuterol treatment last night and I gave her cough syrup before bed. I know that she will be fine though. I am also going to call her doctor tomorrow to ask if there is anything special I can do to prevent her from getting this shit again.
All I know is I have become the flu treatment expert this last month.

Is This Ever Going to End!
My son is at home again today because of sickness. He has a terrible sore throat and looks like hell. He is resting at the moment but gosh I wonder why we got hit so hard when we hardly ever get this sick around my house. We have immune systems of steel most winters.
I feel bad for my son because he misses school because of this yes but he is also missing a spelling bee today and academic team practice this evening as well. I am just glad he is caught up with his homework/make-up work to this point. I am hoping he returns to school tomorrow but who knows.
The sick house is my life!

What a Month Thus Far
I am so sick of having a sick house. My son is home from school yet again. My middle daughter woke up with a cough that seemed a little harsher than usual but I sent her to school anyway and have a call into the nurse at the doctors office to ask if I should get her in because of the fact that my youngest got so sick and I definitely do not want her to get it again.
Yes, I know I had said that I thought my middle daughter brought the flu home to everyone but I am not so sure anymore now I am thinking my husband brought it home to all of us. All I know is everyone in the family has gotten the flu and I hate it.
---
I just called the nurse again and I will be taking my middle daughter in to get her on Tamiflu which is a good thing . I want to just get everyone well as soon as possible for obvious reasons.

Yesterday!
My youngest daughter is on the road to recovery. The appointment yesterday brought good news as her oxygen level was at 100% and she was thus cleared from having to go to the doctor's on an almost daily basis. I am so thankful. I was even happier to return the oxygen machine that was taking up space in my house.
As a preventative measure I took my son in to the doctor yesterday afternoon because he was complaining on headache and sore throat and thus got him put on Zithromax/Azithromycin. I only did so because I do not want to reinfect my 21-month-old especially after the ordeal we have already gone through with her.
I think from now on my whole household is getting the flu shot that I normally do not bother to get because until this year it usually does not attack us this hard.

My youngest girl is doing much much better -- not one hundred percent yet but dang she is so much better than she was a week ago. I am just releaved that we are over the major hurdle and we are on our way to healthdom.
It definitely has been a rather long week and I know that I never want to go through something like this again.
