My Older Daughter...

Sometimes I wonder what is going through her head. Today she felt it necessary that she and her younger sister dress alike. now there is only one shirt that they have that is exactly the same only because I did not want to go through the hell that happens if one girl got a stuffed animal with her shirt and the other did not but she had to make sure today that they were wearing that shirt. I feel sorry for my youngest.

My youngest daughter is more independent and I do not think, even at four years old, she wants to be exactly like her sister but she will do what her sister wants just to keep her sister quiet. She has learned in order to keep her sister happy it is best not to do as she says.

IO think it is funny how my middle child is all into matching and looking like twins. I know when I was little my sister did anything not to look like I did and if I dared where or want something that matched her our mom got an earful from my sister, I being the younger sister.

My Son Cleaned His Room

My son finally did what we asked him to do and that was to clean his room. He got about seven bags of trash which tooj him about four and a half hours. He probably has about another two or three hours of organization to do in his room but he at least gets a break so he may go to the movies with his dad this afternoon. They are going to see District 9.

And speaking of movies, my husband and I went and saw The Time Traveler's Wife from which I thought was great and well done and well Eric Bana is not bad to look at throughout the movie. I would give this about a three and a half stars if I was a movie critic but then again I am not and I hardly ever get to see a movies with my husband. Heck I am a stay at home mom and my kid's come first.

My Son's Hair is Still Not Long Enough

The lady we go to said it would probably be another three months before he could get it long enough to donate to Locks of Love. He is currently about seven inches thus he has about three more inches left to grow. Therefore we are looking at about another three months of growing before he can donate to the one charity that he is doing this for all in the name of wanting to help others.

I am very proud that my son has this much patience to go through the hell that goes a long with all the stages of growth that comes with having to go almost two years total for one cause. Actually, I think it will be a little less than two years but even so it has seemed like a lifetime for him and me. The thing is that kids between the ages of ten and fifteen often do not realize the commitment involved in doing something this drastic for over a period of time.

All I can say is the day we can finally get his hair there will be a big party. We will definitely have several happy campers in our house one of which is my son who begged me to allow him to grow his hair long in the first place.

Happy Days!

Under the Income Based Repayment (IBR) plan and the fact that I am having a hard time finding a job I may have to pay under $15 or less. My hope is that they will be forgiven totally. This excites me as the fact that I would love to pay my loans back if I could find a job but jobs around the rural area of the Oklahoma Panhandle commonly known as the 'No Man's Land' has very few jobs that I could do as a disabled woman. I really want a job in the university where my husband is currently employed but the current status at the university and in many if not all universities is that job openings are frozen and the only way they would hire new people is if the university cannot function without someone filling that position.

So at this point I fill out the forms and wait to see what the loan company decides.

I do encourage everyone who has student loans and are are making less than about $50,000 then you should ask you loan companies representative because you never know you too could be considered for the program. I encourage you to see: Income Based Repayment Plan

What a Week

A Very Long Week, If You Ask Me!

I am so ready for the weekend and a chance to relax. There is a reason why I do all my housework during the week and that is because I deserve to relax on the weekend. Why should I work when the whole family relaxes? The only thing that is reserved for the weekends in terms of housework is clean the bathrooms as I do that before I take my shower on Sunday mornings.

Today I must do the mundane task of mopping the the kitchen floor and clean the kitchen counters. I will also be going to the store with my husband.

Tomorrow I hope to go out just me and my husband to the movies. I really want to see 'The Traveler's Wife.' The fact that my son is now old enough to babysit it is nice to be able to do things with just my husband rather than having to try and find a babysitter and whatnot.

Big Brother Update:

Oh and if you car about Big Brother 11: Jeff is HoH this week and thus the two cuddling sweethearts are safe for another week. Lydia was voted out of the house and heads to the Jury House with Jessie who own lover from which I think she was secretly hoping to do before Natalie. Get all the updates and such at: BBDish! Ya Gotta Have It!

My Day is Pretty Bland

Compared to yesterday I have done very little to nothing since about ten in the morning. After all the cleaning I did yesterday with the evidence on my facebook page I can tell you that I needed a day off because of all that back-breaking work in the girls' room.

I am now watching the Big Brother Live Feeds on Realplayer. I just caught a very cute picure of Jeff and Jordan under the covers. If you have been watching the show or feeds at all then you know the two of them are romantically involved.

The Cuddling sweethearts. Young love is so fun to watch!

Having to clean

I need to clean my daughters' room or maybe help them or something. There is too much of a mess that I am afraid that they could not handle alone. I know, I know my oldest daughter is seven and thus she should be able to do it alone but I kind of feel bad when I make her do it because he sister who is four gives very little help. Whatever I end up deciding on doing it will get done somehow, someway, today.

Maybe, I can at least get the blankets and clothes off the floor and then just maybe they could help me with the rest. Sigh...Whatever I decide it must be tackled on this day because procrastinating is not what actually gets the work done in a fast efficient way.

The joys of being a stay at home mom seems to be cleaning all the time and never being done with the work around the house. I think i am ready to start asking my kids to pay me to conquer their room when it gets so bad. Not a bad idea, right? Part of their allowance to clean their room for them!

Give More Money to the Universities, Colleges and Education in General

The advertisement I am really getting sick of see these days is any of the ones that advertise that as a Mom I need to go back to school and get my degree. Sorry but that is not going to happen at this point and time in my life because I have already gotten a Bachelor's of Science in Human Services and a Master's in Social Work. I want a job now that my youngest daughter is in school. I need to now make money to help the family I created with my husband's help so that he does not have to stress himself to death.

The thing that is holding me back at the moment is the states keep placing more budget cuts on the universities and colleges across the state. I live on the Panhandle of Oklahoma and for that it means that all the job openings have been frozen at the university where my husband works and where I was hoping to get a job once my youngest went off to school. States need to know that in order for others to get a quality education with staff and qualified professors there must be some money coming in or students will be coming to an empty campus with no professors or support staff to fulfill the students' wishes and dreams.

In other words if you want Mom's to get a quality education you must give them the people and tools necessary to get the goals of the students achieved.

My First Morning Without a Kid

My youngest daughter is now in Pre-K and I could not be happier. No one is ever going to accuse me of having become too attached to her because she is my last child. I am ready for her to get the school experience as well as giving me the few hours to myself to reboot, reload, and rejuvenate my own body so that I can be the mother that my thirteen year old son and seven and four year old daughters deserve. I love the three of them but I love myself as well and that means that I must take care of myself first.

I have to say that I never understood those mothers who have put themselves last because if you truly love your family then you first must take care of yourself so that you can be there and take care of your family. It is as easy as one, two, three, right? I think it is, at least!

After having my cup of coffee I did get out the clothes from my girls closet which were thrown everywhere in the bottom of the closet and threw them on the floor of the living room. I then went threw each and every article of clothing and separated
them into about eight different piles depending on what the article was and whose of the two girls it belongs to.

Tomorrow I will be tackling the girls room.

Who's on First!

Summer this Year

Affects of Recession and the Fact that I Chose to be a Stay-at-Home Mom

The summer this year is spent mostly at the the OPSU's Noble Center where the pool is located. Our usual trip to California has been canceled because of the fact that we probably should not have gone to California last summer but with my dad just having died at the beginning of June 2008 I felt my mom was needing to see me and my family in almost a reassurance measure even though she is happy healthy and more than likely will have another fifteen or more years to live on this earth. Just because my dad died at age sixty-five of cancer does not mean that my mom will die the same way. The one thing I learned from my dad is that when aches and pains become unmanageable or whatnot then go to the doctor right then, don't wait.

The pool will keep at least me and the girls happy for the rest of the summer! My older girl is now able to swim and my youngest is becoming more comfortable with the water. I personally feel a whole lot better after swimming as it helps loosen the muscles in my right arm that often feels stiff these days.

There is no doubt that yes I will miss seeing my family but I think we need a break from the four days stuffed in the van for travel. We will definitely be going next summer as I will be having my twentieth high school reunion which I am overly excited about.

Does it Matter that I Want a Career?

Not just a job. I know the economy is bad and that careers in the university systems are scarce but that is what I have wanted to do since about 1993 and this is something that my husband has known since I got my job as a Disabled Student Services Student Assistant the first year we knew each other. I have to say that I have tried my hand at other jobs and feel as though with my disability that II need to focus my attention on things that will not make me jeopardize my own health or others, for that matter.

Since 1993, I have known that I wanted to work with college/university students to help them get through the struggles of the life of school, work and possible family. The reason why I got my Master’s in Social Work is because I was told by my supervisor at the Disabled Student Services Office at Cal State Fullerton, Lisa Thies, that if I really wanted her job that I would at least need a Masters degree in something so in 1997 I went back to school to get my Masters after having a son who was then barely one and a husband in grad school himself. My ultimate hopes were to get a job at the university from which my husband was a professor after he finished his journey as a grad student.

Never once did I believe that he would get a job at a small university in the middle of nowhere where the general philosophy is that there is no need for a true office for disabled students because there are not that many in the area. According to the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA, 1990), it is technically part of what should be on every campus across the nation including Alaska and Hawaii. The way they get around not having a true office is that they make the Counseling offices and departments take on double duty and deal with counseling, testing, and disabled student issues. I understand that at small universities there are budgetary issues that would cause them to cut certain things or not care in the first place but what happened to enforcing the laws that are in place. The universities should at least have a disability coordinator on campus so that the students with disabilities have an advocate that cares about them alone. I also feel that at this campus per se that there are many learning disabled students not able to be identified in the first place because they have no idea where to start or how to become identified in the first place. If there was a coordinator at least there is someone who can find professionals who could help them identify their setbacks.

So Much Seems to be Happening

I am really not going to go into the details except for the fact that my family has undergone a whole bunch of stress. I have gone to being a little bit more anonymous than I like but I will do anything for my family. I am sorry I cannot be anymore forward but just know that I am still the same person and will not let others change who I am and I do not expect my husband to change anything he does because that is what I fell in love with when I first met him over seventeen years ago.

I love my husband more than ever because of the fact that he stands up for what he believes in and does not let others opinions shut him up or change him just to conform to the norm. I have to say I always admired those scientists who even though their scientific findings may not be popular they stick up for the results they have found.

Just leave us alone, Bitch!!! Leave us alone!!!

So Much to Think About....

My youngest girl will be going off to school this next year and I will no longer need to be home for her during the morning hours thus I need to have something to do: A job, a life beyond my kids. I am not saying that my job as a mother is done as it is just beginning because I am having to monitor my kids and especially dealing with misconceptions I feel they get from friends and other people in the outside world. My main thing is I need to have something to do besides sit at home while my kids are at school during the weekdays.

I may have to put my writing career on the back burning and just get a boring sit down job at the university because there is nothing else available that I can do. I know that I must have a job that does not entail me standing all day because of my disability and the meds I take to stay healthy. The good thing is that I always wanted to work with professors and college students in a university/college atmosphere -- thus I guess I should not complain to much if I must go below what my degrees have afforded me and take any job that I am qualified to do. I will do that if I must as I doubt that the university my husband is at will ever have a true Disabled Student Services office because they find it unnecessary to even place someone with experience with that population of students in the counseling office. I know that they are trying to do what they think is best but even so I believe that there are students struggling with disability and learning issues that are not being identified because of the lack of an advocate to help them out.

I Wonder All the Time!

Is there any way that my family and I will be accepted in this right-wing state we live in. There are many times that I wish that people could look past the fact that my husband and I are Liberal and Democrat respectively and notice that we are people to and we are going to be living among them until my husband retires from the university he currently is a professor at in the Panhandle of Oklahoma.

The fact is that people in big Metropolitan cities have learned to live amongst diversity for many decades and several centuries and possibly longer in other countries: Why is it then that small towns and even states have a hard time when a few people speak out on their own beliefs that defer from the majority in the town or state, or even region of the country?

I am not going to succumb to the norm just because it is the 'right' thing to do. Conforming has never been my way of life and thus it will never happen!I am never going to be a Republican and I continue to make my own choices and thus think critically when it comes to EVERY aspect of my life including politics and my spiritual journey through life. I am the one living MY life no one else and thus I am going to make my own decisions that makes ME happy.

JAMES, I LOVE YOU AND EVERYTHING YOU ARE ABOUT!

Lost Stella Yesterday!

Fluffball Stella 2001-5/7/2009

We are a little sad around our house as we lost another cat, Fluffball Stella. I took her to the vet yesterday knowing deep down that we were going to have to put her down. She was between seven and eight years old and will be missed tremendously. Her white blood cell count was threw the roof and she lost a lot of muscle mass and more. I am just really glad she is not suffering anymore.

On my Mind!

Money, Money, Money -- I need money! I am really going to have to break down and finally go back to work I am just not sure what, or how. I hope to get a job at the university where my husband works although I will probably have to beg them to hire me as an over-qualified individual as before we got here nine years ago I had already gotten my Master's in Social Work as I was hoping to work with disabled students on a college or university campus.

There are a few advantages I see about getting a job at the university instead of anywhere else. The first advantage being no travel and the second is I would still have tons of time with my family. I feel that the most important thing is my family -- children need one or both parents when they are home. I also don't want to lose all my income to external costs such as daycare, travel expenses, clothes, lunches, and everything else that comes with a job away from the town I live in.

My ideal job of course would be working with disabled students on campus here as I feel that there are more students who are missing diagnosis and the accommodations they deserve under the ADA(1990) than the university has and/or can identify due to lack of funds to the counseling office that helps those with disabilities. I would take any job at this rate because of the fact that I have not had a true job since '99 as I have stayed busy raising my three kids. I would like to stay within a university setting so that I can work closely with college students.

Nadya Does it Again!

The latest from CNN and Showbiz Tonight on Headline News is that Ms. Suleman has kicked the Angels in Waiting charity helpers and nurses out of her house. Why am I not surprised! Suleman will do anything to keep her name in the news and with that she is doing a fantastic job -- the thing she can't get through her thick skull is that there is no way she will be able to raise these kids alone. I guess she has also run her own mother off as well. I wonder how all of this will effect the release of the remaining four babies in the hospital. Scary thought, if you ask me!

Living in the Country -- The Oklahoma Great Plains

I love it here even though it is much different than how I grew up as I grew up in Orange County, CA where the nearest store was less than two miles away and now is about two blocks away from the house I grew up in. The thing is that families there live on top of one another and they really have little to no yards unless they are like my parents that happen to live on a golf course.

I now live in a rural town in the country on the panhandle of Oklahoma where I am raising my three kids (a boy and two girls), four cats, and three dogs. The thing I love the most is that when my kids want to go out and play I do not have to worry too much that something or someone may hurt them (or snatch them) from me. The other thing I like is I know most people by face if not by name.

The thing I like the most though is I can be who I am, for the most part. I am a stay at home mom and I can do that because the cost of living is lower than in the big cities. Yes, we could use ten to twenty thousand more dollars and my hope is once my third child is in school full-time that I could at least work part-time to make up the difference. The other thing I would like to do is make the university systems and state governments aware that they need to pay professors what they are worth depending on the education they have received.

Give Nadya Suleman a Break!

The poor woman has finally come to her senses and is getting help and has gotten a house big enough, for the time being, for all fourteen kids. OK, yes, the house needs a tone of work and I believe that with The Angels in Waiting charity group it will all get done so let's now give her a chance to breathe and get what she needs to have done, done before the babies start coming home.

Seriously, she has just come to the realization that her life has been turned upside down by the birth of the octuplets now give her a chance to get things done: Get off her Frickin' doorsteps for awhile! I have to say that we treat her as bad as we treated Brittany Spears not to long ago. How many times to we have to see her walk from her front door top her car before we have had enough. Stay away Paparazzi! She is not a celebrity just for having octuplets (or even fourteen kids in all). The person we should be following is the fertility doctor that allowed this to happen in the first place, not her!

As a person with a master's in social work, I do care about the kids involved but she is trying her hardest to get her life and family in order so damn give her the chance and back off the poor woman!

Not much Going On in My Life

Today is just another day of the same old, same old!

I do have to say that I was glad to hear on the news that Nadya Suleman has finally taken the offer from Gloria Allred and the Angels in Waiting charity to help her with the octuplets. She has also gotten a four bedroom house that some are saying that is not big enough for fourteen kids but I am just happy that she is coming to her senses and not living in a fantasy anymore. The article is at: Octomom Nadya Suleman’s new baby: $565G digs for brood. In the article it also stated that she was giving up her wish to become the next reality TV star.

Anyway that is all that is really in my mind at the moment so sorry I am not more interesting today!

Frustrated at mobile phone

That is where I am emotionally right now. I was hoping that I could figure out how to transfer my pix from my phone to my computer once I got the USB port I needed. Well I got it and I still can't get the PIX off and I have a few really cute ones and they are stuck. I am not sure but I have a feeling it is my Verizon plan I am currently on. All I know is I want to the PIX and I want them on my computer now.

Heck if anyone who is anyone knows anything about the LG VX8300. The main thing I need to know is whether there is a convient way to get my PIX off phone and into my computer... Sigh!

Tatiana back as Wild Card Possibilitty Tonight on American Idol

Serious? What the hell are you thinking Simon, Paula, Randy, and Kara? She is so annoying? My hope now is that she does not make it as one of the three wild cards that ends up on the final twelve contestants although I am guessing, or is it praying, she won't make it through tonight.

Survivor is on tonight as well but I can't get into the season so I guess I will watch AI.

Jason Mesnick go to .....

I am sure you can complete the sentence if you saw the finale of The Bachelor last night. How dare you break up with one and then ten minutes later ask the other out on a date all in what was cut to be one hour. OK, so we don't know exactly how long it took for The Bachelor: After the Final Rose to actually tape but damn even if it was all in one day you just don't do that.

First your break-up with Melissa was horrible and should have been private -- done before coming on the show. I felt so sorry for Melissa as you did it so publicly and even took the ring back (at least on the show although I hope you did the right thing and give it back to the producers). I have to say I would not have been as nice as Melissa because I would have slapped you hard across the face as I called you a bastard.

Secondly, if you really wanted to start re-dating Molly you should have asked her off screen. What the F&*^ were you thinking I am so hoping that Melissa never watched this last show because I am sure she is hurting even more than getting dumped if she watched you re-ask out Molly. You are a Jerk and remind me of some of the scums of the earth!

My advice to Molly is: RUN fast, who knows when he will change his mind again...Is he gonna want Jillian back next.

The question I have for Jason is: What the hell happened to your first marriage anyway? How did that one end?

People Wonder Why I Stay in Oklahoma

Well the simple answer is that I feel safe here and feel that it is one of the best places to raise kids in an environment that has little worry. I also live here because my husband has a job that is secure as long as the university is here or more than likely until he retires -- with the economy the way it is currently it is very important to be in a place where your job is stable and in no risk of being taken from right under you due to the economy and whatnot. My husband is a professor and now has tenure which means that his job is pretty much guaranteed him unless he totally screws up and goes to class for a lecture drunk and naked.

I like the fact that there are not a lot of people where I live as well. The space is nice and I do not live on top of anyone and I would even be okay with someday getting a little land outside of the town we currently live in so I can be more to myself. I would also like to have a horse of my very own and get back to what I enjoyed to do as a child when I rode horses as a form of therapy.

I figure my husband and I will be here until the day he retires and then we will decide then where to retire which will probably be in a city or suburb that is near a hospital and medical facilities that can take care of us in old age. The thing is that I am not sure what is going to happen to me as I age because of my cerebral palsy and seizure disorder -- my hope and prayer is that nothing will happen but who knows. All I can say is I am healthy and happy now and I am living in a place I have always wanted to live since I was little and would go visit my maternal grandparents in West Texas which is very rural in many places especially where they lived and my grandfather preached.

I know I complain a whole heck of a lot about the professors' salaries around here especially but that is because I would like to see it changed and hopefully someday someone will do something about it rather than not caring. I want people to understand that these men and women spend many years of their life getting an education (as well as spending lots of money and acquiring student loans) so that they can then go to educate others. The problem then is that professors are not paid enough to raise a family and pay off their student loans and other debts they have acquired. My belief is the states need to take better care of those that educate their children and that means they need to pay them higher wages so they can get by without feeling like they are sinking further in a financial whole each and every month.

Proud Again to be an American

I no longer feel ashamed to call myself an American because I feel that we now have a President who is not afraid to say that we are in dire need of help and change in order to get out of our financial ruin that we are faced at the moment, My only hope is that congress and the President's administration have learned from their past mistakes and put in a better checks and balances so the money that we are spending on the stimulus package goes for change and not luxuries for the richest of the rich.

The other thing I am liking (although concerned about) is the fact that education is important to Obama. The thing that inspires me is that he wants to see the young go on to get a higher education which is important to get a job that pays more than minimum wage. The thing that concerns me is that people will go on to get graduate degrees and like myself (and my husband) and cannot find a job that pays enough to raise a family and pay the student loans that are acquired by furthering their education. People should get paid for what they have put into getting educated in the first place. In states like Oklahoma (and other somewhat rural-ish states) I can attest to the fact that this is not happening because our professors with Ph.D's are being paid less than the athletic staff (sometimes with less education) that are at the same colleges and universities.

I would also like to say that I support Obama's signing the bill to close Guantanamo Bay. It makes me sick to see that others are detained indefinitely for crimes they may or may not have committed, if they are criminals then charge them and put them through a trial immediately instead of waiting and waiting.

Eating Dinner at Home

Not only is it cheaper but it is becoming more fun as the kids get older. My son for instance can help me on the few days a week that I cook. We have fun and try and experiment when we get the chance. Chicken for instance is one of our favorite to try different spice and combinations to see if they work: Unfortunately, we are not allowed to prepare the chicken that often because a certain Dad of his *wink wink*, you know who you are, thinks that we do it wrong and that it tastes funny because it does taste different than his recipe. Well the thing we do is we hold a license to change what the cookbook says in various ways to make it our own -- isn't that how cooks and chefs make something their own.

My advice: Experimentation is a good thing if taken in a way that does not truly ruin the thing you are making. I think my husband just needs to accept change a little better and have a more open mind to differences between two styles of cooking. :-)

Small Breasted Woman Rant

I have to say that I get really upset when I go looking for new bras because I cannot find many in my size because I am so small chested. There are times I think I would be better off going to the tween section of clothing stores so that I can find my size but then I just feel awkward because my daughters are much younger than those sizes and thus I feel I don't belong there in the first place. Thus the only way I can buy my bras because I live out in the middle of nowhere is online and even then when I start looking I am limited to only a few bras and the few dig right into my shoulders all day because the straps are so thin.

All I ask is that more clothing stores should cater to the few of us that have small chests and nothing to speak of. If you look in the actual stores of JCPenney's and many others I am sure the smallest size you can find is a 34A well I am a 32B and love it and I am proud of the figure I have been able to maintain after having three kids. I know that I live in one of the fattest states in the union but I am not fat and I also need clothes that fit and not fall off when I place them on my skinny body.

My two cents on being me and not someone else.

The Oscars I Will Not Watch

Yes, you read right: I will not be watching them. The main reason is because I hate all the acceptance speeched and I can get the results almost instintaneously through the wonderful world of the Internet. I will probably watch the Barbara Walter's Special but that is because at 6pm central time on Sundays there is usually very little to watch anyway.

After Walter's special I will change to CBS and catch The Amazing Race. I usually try and watch every week because it thankfully comes on before Desperate Housewives which is not on tonight because of the Oscars. I have also thought about trying to catch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on the Family Channel.
