In the panhandle of Oklahoma one would think that there is a tractor or motor outside of our house but it is only because we have three fully grown trees in our front yard and I think the cicadas are out in full force this year. They remind me of a time when my hubby, oldest son and I lived in Columbia, MO and we would go walking through the university on our way to the coffee house and pass by the many trees. The cicadas would get so loud at times that we could not hold a simple conversation because the clicking that comes from them was over powering our voices. Then of course there was the time that one actually went down the back of my husband's shirt.
I do so miss those walks we would take in the fresh air and all the nature we would see that we cannot find here in the Oklahoma panhandle. We would simply watch the bats congregate around the Dome of Jesse Hall that my son nicknamed "His Dome." There were also the many fireflies that would fly around us as we strolled around the campus and downtown area. Let me not forget the squirels that would frolic around the quad area near the columns.
